Scotty G.
Private tutor in Roanoke, VA
Education
Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory/Composition with a minor in Creative Writing from Washington and Lee University.
Experience
I have experience as a peer tutor at Washington and Lee as well as substitute teacher at North Cross School. 730 on SAT math, 5 on AP Calc AB, 4 on AP Calc BC. Passage of Actuary P1 exam. I enjoy helping instill a love of mathematics in students. I feel as though math is seen as too hard or too complicated by today's youth, but really, it's not, trust me! You just have to approach it the right way. Aside from Mathematics, I have played the bass for 12 years. With a degree in Music Theory, I am comfortable in teaching both the writing and playing of music. I've played in University groups for jazz, blue grass, electric, and modern rock music. I like to think my original work tends toward the spirit Les Claypool, Frank Zappa, and They Might be Giants.
